Intermittent fasting is the process of cycling between periods of eating and fasting. Studies have proven that there are many benefits such as an improved metabolic health, disease protection and possibly even living longer. Intermittent fasting restricts your eating window to a 8-10 hour gap where you can fit in 3 meals. For example you can do this fast by eating your last meal at around 7 or 8pm waiting at least 14 to 16 hours for an intermittent fast to kick in.
Most people already fast when they are sleeping so you can simply prolong that fast for a little longer by instead of eating when you wake up, eat around noon or 1pm. Being quite easy to follow, many people report feeling better and having more energy after a fast. Benefits of intermittent fasting include:
1) Boosts weight loss
2) Increases energy
3) Promotes cellular repair
4) Protects from type 2 diabetes (reduces insulin resistance)
5) Lowers bad cholesterol
6) Promotes longevity
7) Protects from neurodegenerative disease (Parkinson's and Alzheimer's)
8) Improves memory and brain function
9) Makes cells more resilient
Tip: From someone who regularly uses intermittent fasting myself, I have not encountered any side affects and in turn only feel better with more energy. Try it and experience these benefits and see how you feel. Then you can use intermittent fasting in your workout schedule and preparation goals.
