Body fat percentage test

It is essential to know your body fat percentage in order to correctly evaluate your health and fitness. Your body fat percentage divides your body weight into two categories which are fat mass and everything else. It is important to note that fat is not the enemy as it helps to keep you warm and protects your vital organs and joints. Have a look at the picture to visualise what body fat % you are then check what range you fall under the chart below and if it is healthy.

It only becomes bad when you have too much or even too little fat. The higher your body fat percentage the more likely you are to have diabetes and other health problems and if your body fat is too low then your immunity to diseases and energy levels will be lower in comparison to someone at a healthy body fat. Having an idea of what body fat percentage you are will help you identify what you need to do from now on. I have been at 5.5% before but it is not a healthy weight to maintain and now I stand at a much healthier 8.5% body fat.

Tip: If your body fat % is too low then you need to eat more carbohydrates, proteins and good fats, aiming for at least 3 main meals a day and starting up the correct workout plan which builds lean muscle mass. And if your body fat % is too high then you need to set up a diet plan which aims to lose fat (for starters junk food, liquid calories and refined sugars have to be cut out categorically) and also implement a workout plan to lose fat quicker whilst also gaining lean muscle mass in the process.
