Ego lifting, correct form & full range of motion

Tip: Lifting a heavier weight does not mean more muscle gained. Correct form and a full range of motion are 2 important factors that will contribute to muscle growth as well as your overall fitness. If you want to incorrectly lift a heavy weight, damage your joints and limit muscle growth just to impress people then go ahead but I would rather look and feel like a Greek statue.

Ego lifting: Trying to lift usually a heavy weight without using correct form or full range of motion. Ego lifters cannot lift a weight with correct form and full range of motion which makes them prone to injuries. Never lift more than you can.

Form: Form is a specific way of performing a movement, often a strength training exercise, to avoid injury, prevent cheating and increase strength (Wikipedia definition). Correct form means being in a state of total control of the weight you are lifting, able to pause at any given time during the repetition and also being able to maintain a full ROM throughout (range of motion).

Range of motion: The full movement potential of a joint, usually its range of flexion and extension. For example an arm might lack 20 degrees of full extension due to an injury. Lets say you are doing press ups on a bar, your chest should be virtually touching (not bouncing) the bar as you go down and your arms should nearly be fully extended as you go up to allow for a full range of motion which: Develops great flexibility, activates more muscle groups and optimises the overall benefit of an exercise.
