If
you work a muscle by contracting/extending it and follow the right
food plan and recovery then it will grow. The muscle does not care
how it is exercised only that it needs a stimulus in the form of
movement or from a stress/weight for it to experience growth.
Progressive overload is the gradual increase of stress placed on the
body and it is essential for muscle growth. Although weights trigger
the stimulus of stress for the body to continually adapt by
increasing the weight this is not the only way to keep gaining
muscle.
People who say the only way to gain muscle is you have to lift heavier and heavier weights each day, week or month are wrong. First you don't even need weights for this and second we must understand how we progressively overload. Progressive overload means the gradual increase in volume(the amount), intensity (how hard) and frequency (how often) you do an exercise. Because of this it really doesn't matter whether you use weights or body weight exercises in your workouts. If you want to use body weight exercises to gain muscle over time you can do these 3 things gradually: 1) Increase the amount of repetitions or sets you do in a workout. 2) Up the intensity and tempo by taking shorter rests in between sets as well as prolonging the time under tension of a muscle during an exercise, keeping the muscle under stress for a longer period of time. 3) Exercise more often by training each muscle group more times a week.

Tip :
As long as the muscle is being worked it will grow so just focus on
training it as well as diet and recovery.
